From the Battlefield to the Archive
- AIMH is a rich repository of military history, in all its dimensions. We engage in an ongoing effort to collect historical data – oral histories, documents, pictures, sketches and artefacts.
- Oral history is a method of gathering and preserving historical information and personal testimonies. The oral history preservation program (OHPP) is a permanent feature at AIMH, conducted in our recording studio (East Pakistan Room). War veterans, relatives, and civilian witnesses and participants are interviewed, and their accounts recorded digitally. Our research faculty either reach out for, or are contacted for interviews. These are transcribed and archived in both hard and soft copy.
Those interested can approach AIMH for a session, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Our faculty will reach out to accommodate those who cannot visit AIMH. If you wish to get in touch with AIMH for this purpose, please fill in the following details
